Se7en
This is a title from the movie Se7en. This title was created by Saul Bass.
Se7en is about a pair of homicide detectives who are attempting to track down a killer using the seven deadly sins as templates for how each person dies.
In the title, the number 7 is used as a replacement for the V, to indicate something key with the number 7 is occurring within the movie. The first thing that comes to mind with the number Seven for most people? The seven cardinal sins, or the seven deadly sins. This would be especially true in America, where Christianity is a bit more influential. The title appears to be in a white font that looks like someone has roughly written the letters. In a way, it looks like the letters have been written on a wall by hand, albeit neatly. The background is black because it makes the title stand out more . Also the title flashes to different places instead of just staying there and has its previous positions behind the current position to make the title look more interesting. In the film, the title randomly flickers into different positions like a tape, giving the impression of something old.
This word makes the audience (who doesn't know about the story) feel curious as to why there is a number seven on the title instead of a 'V'. They would also feel that it has an unsettling feeling as the letters appear to be rough.
