The Do's And Don't's
We made a short video called The Exchange. It was to see what skills we had on the camera to begin with. From the video we made up a list of Do's and Don'ts for filming. This will help us greatly to see what we should do to make our filming better. Below is our video of the exchange.
The list of Do's and Don'ts was comprised when we watched our The Exchange video and when we watched The Exchange videos of those who are in our class. It was made when we had seen not just our mistakes, but also those of others. Watching the others' films helped us add to and get a better list of what to do and what not to do when filming and editing. Here is the famous list:
The Do's:
- Variety of shots
- Always plan
- Define audience
- Use a tripod
- Variety of angles
- Special affects
- Appropriate props
- Only use good actors/actresses
- Appropriate costumes
- Right cast
- Sound effects
- Needs a storyline
- Define your genre
The Don't's
- Don't laugh when filming
- Don't over complicate the storyline
- Don't use too much dialogue
- Don't zoom in when filming - stay zoomed out
- Don't compromise the continuity
- Don't attempt a death scene with the wrong angle - it'll look bad
